Having become prisoners of war, they never knelt down and, persisted in fighting, mobilizing and producing amid fiery struggles. “The combatants of the People’s Guerrilla Army, prisoners of war, upholding the slogan “It is Right to Rebel”, fought heroically and boldly laid down a milestone of heroism, valor and courage that will be preserved in history as an exemplary demonstration of those heroic individuals that only the people’s war is capable of creating.
Thus, the 19th of June is imprinted forever as the DAY OF HEROISM; the blood of these heroes already yields results in the armed revolution, inflaming it even more, rising as a monumental vibrant banner and an inexhaustible war cry that calls to the inevitable final victory.
The glorious death in battle of these prisoners of war is wrapped up in the blood already shed, and before it we communists, we combatants and we sons and daughters of the people, armed, assume the irrevocable commitment to follow their shining example, to serve the world revolution by developing the people’s war until the unfading light of communism takes its place all over the Earth under the undefeated banners of Marx, Lenin and Chairman Mao Tsetung, of the always living Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.

To mark the occasion of this 33rd anniversary of the Day of Heroism, the Peru People’s Movement, generated organ for the work abroad, extends its warmest Communist greetings to all the prisoners of war and political prisoners of our class and of the oppressed peoples all over the world; militants, combatants and masses of the Communist Parties, of the heroic people’s wars and armed struggles under the banner of Maoism in Peru, India, Turkey, Philippines and other places; of the wars of national liberation in the oppressed countries against imperialist aggression and exploitation; of the anti-fascist struggles and struggles of the proletariat in the imperialist countries as well as in the Third World; and our special greeting to the Palestinian fighters imprisoned in the dungeons of Zionism. We also greet all the revolutionary intellectuals and progressives detained by imperialism, reaction and revisionism for having carried out their work, revealing the sinister plans and crimes of imperialism and informing the masses of the world about the revolutionary struggles. We salute all these political prisoners and prisoners of war who give their life to destroy this old and rotten system of exploitation and oppression and to build the new, and we call upon them to continue the example of the glorious Day of Heroism and of our Great Leadership, Chairman Gonzalo—the most important political prisoner in the world today—of transforming the sordid dungeons of reaction into shining trenches of combat.
The fallen heroes of Frontón, Lurigancho and Callao, our Great Leadership, Chairman Gonzalo, and the prisoners of the Communist Party of Peru who today continue struggling against the revisionism and capitulationism of the rats of the ROL and the LOL, are very important examples before the world of how to combat and resist under the conditions of imprisonment, in the hands of the enemy. Against all the forms of torture and isolation, all the attempts of reaction to manipulate them and spread capitulation, treason and the “peace accords” through its system of incarceration, these heroes of the proletariat and the people raise the red banner of our class and the revolution, the unfading banner of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, Gonzalo Thought, principally Gonzalo Thought, the banner of people’s war. And only with people’s war will we set them free!
